The Wednesday Afternoon Session is going ahead on 2nd January as usual and since this may be a holiday for some people, we’d love for the evening runners to join us. This is the first Wednesday of the month Off-road run. We are planning to run in Blackmuir Wood, Strathpeffer.
Meet in the Railway Station Car Park in the Muir at 1:30pm prompt, to car share to the start of the run. Alternatively, anyone coming from the west or north can meet us at the starting point in Strathpeffer at 1:45. Park in the Blackmuir Wood Forestry car park (OS Grid reference NH479574), reached by turning off the south side of the A834 at the Contin end of Strathpeffer village. Turn off immediately after the large white building, if coming from Contin direction.
We plan to offer a range of different pace/distance groups with routes including Knockfarrel for those who wish a wee climb.The routes are on forest tracks and narrow paths. Trail shoes are advised for those who wish to tackle the hill.
Note: All of the above may be subject to change depending on the weather. Leader(s) plan to recce the route on Hogmanay or Jan 1st and we will advise you of plan B, if the above proves to be unsuitable due to ice, etc.
Homemade mince pies will be on offer after the run, in the forest picnic site at Strathpeffer. Bring a hot (or cold) drink along to accompany these if you wish!
