Virtual Couch to 5K sessions

Virtual Couch to 5K programme – starting Monday 8th February

Taking up running can be a scary prospect especially if you feel unfit and not used to exercise. For beginners, or anyone returning to running after a break, one of the best ways is to start with a gradual jog-walk programme, such as Couch to 5K (C25K)

Muir of Ord Jog Scotland is planning a Couch to 5K block of jog sessions, but with a difference to our usual delivery. Due to current restrictions we will be hosting these as virtual jogging sessions. Each week one or more of our qualified jog leaders will coach you through the 3 jog sessions, and be here to share their skills, knowledge and expertise.

This programme is free to anyone (usual disclaimer, seek medical advice if you are at all unsure about your health) and will start Monday 8th February.

The programme takes you about 20 – 30 minutes, three times a week for nine weeks. You will start with jogging for 1 minute intervals, making this achievable for most people. At the end of the nine weeks you’ll be jogging for 30 minutes.

All you need is comfortable clothes and trainers. If you have a smart phone or MP3 player, you will be able to follow the C25K app or podcasts which will guide you through the jog/walk intervals each session. Alternatively you could use a watch to time the intervals.

Experience shows that many people new to jogging find it easier to stick to the plan with support from others. As well as the jog leaders guiding you every step of the way, we provide this space here for everyone to share their experiences.
